Demand in the market from confectionery and baked goods producers for nut flavours but without the use of real nut ingredients has led to the development of this innovative new range; which is especially relevant as research has shown that as many as 11.7% of the European population could be affected by a nut allergy*.
The new nut-free granulates are available in eight flavours including Almond; Peanut; Peanut Caramel; Peanut Chocolate; Hazelnut; Pecan; Walnut and Pistachio. They are expected to appeal to manufacturers of baked goods or chocolate products, general confectionery, cereals and ice cream manufacturers plus many more applications. These granulates are offered in all standard cutting sizes including 2-4mm; 3-5mm; 4x5mm; 6x9mm and 9x9mm.
The nut-free granulates have major advantages in that they offer an authentic nut taste and aroma, which is completely natural. The inclusions are more cost effective for manufacturers too, as less quantity is required in comparison to nuts to achieve the same flavour gained when using whole or chopped nut inclusions.
The new range is also completely allergen free, as well as being free from Palm oil. Not only are they suitable for those with allergies but they are gluten-free, Kosher and Halal capable and suitable for vegan and vegetarian diets. In addition, they are bake stable and free flowing, therefore easy to dose.
“In the same way that people with wheat intolerances may still want to enjoy bread – so those with allergies can still enjoy the flavour of nut-based products but without the associated risks,” explains Mike Schmidt, Sales Director of Paradise Fruits Solutions. “We see huge potential for this range, as research shows there is a rising number of people throughout the globe with nut allergies, yet they are being demanded as a flavour in many of the most popular baked goods and confectionary products.”
The nut free inclusions can also be developed in bespoke flavour combinations and sizes based on the customer’s requirements. Other formats, including a nut-free paste, are also currently in development and will be available in the new year.
Mike Schmidt adds: “Our new product development team is always looking to work alongside food manufacturers to develop innovative products that meet consumer demand. The allergy-free nut granulates are just the latest example of a cutting-edge range that will really help manufacturers to create the products that customers are looking for.”
Earlier this year Paradise Fruits, which is behind four innovative fruit and vegetable processing businesses, launched a range of vitamin-infused fruit shapes and inclusions. This included assorted pure fruit shapes and freeze-dried granulates, which are fortified with a unique combination of vitamins, minerals and extracts to support health and wellbeing.
