The Finnish Coeliac Society has awarded Fazer’s Oululainen Reissumies Gluten-free product family as the gluten-free product of the year 2024. The selection criteria for the gluten-free product of the year include, among others, taste, availability, novelty value, nutritional value and price.
The award-winning Oululainen Reissumies Gluten-free product family includes four products:
- Reissumies Gluten-free
- Reissumies Gluten-free Very Dark
- Reissumies Gluten-free Sandwich Classic and
- Reissumies Gluten-free Sandwich with chili chicken
The gluten-free Reissumies products are baked at Fazer Bakery Finland’s gluten-free bakery in Lahti.
“Fazer’s offering of gluten-free products is constantly evolving, and the product family includes breads and pastries, as well as home baking products,” says Ari Ahola, Marketing Director, Growth Categories, Fazer Bakery Finland.
“The Gluten-free Reissumies product family has quickly become the cornerstone of our gluten-free range, and we are delighted about the good feedback that the products have received from our consumers. The Gluten-free Product of the Year 2024 title inspires us at Fazer to further develop and bake products that taste good and are of high quality,” Ahola continues.
“The competition jury appreciated the product family as a whole, and especially the ready-made gluten-free sandwiches have been an appreciated addition to the market. The availability of these products is good, the salt content is moderate, and the taste has come close to that of ordinary bread,” says Tarja Heimolehto, Marketing Specialist at the Finnish Coeliac Society, on behalf of the jury.
Consumers who nominated the gluten-free Reissumies wrote, among other things:
“A tasty, healthy and easy snack with good availability.”
“A tasty classic!”
“This is so good and almost like real rye bread. Even my non-gluten-free boyfriend prefers this! This gluten-free “rye bread” has been awaited for 15 years.”
The Finnish Coeliac Society rewarded the Gluten-Free Product of the Year for the first time in 2001. Nominations have been made by both consumers and companies. The final choice was made by the competition jury, consisting of a dietitian, a food inspector, a food industry professional, an ambassador for gluten-free life, a representative of the board of the Finnish Coeliac Society, and an expert from the Finnish Coeliac Society.
