Cologne, 7-11 October 2023 – Nonna Rina, an Italian producer of high-quality fresh pasta, will be making its first appearance at Anuga, one of the most important fairs in the agriculture and food sector, to be held in Cologne from 7 to 11 October.
The company, which is based in the heart of the Veneto region and is specialised in the production of gnocchi, chicche, smooth pasta and stuffed pasta, is ready to share hand-crafted Italian flavour with all visitors attending the event.
The special trait that sets apart all Nonna Rina products, making them unique in the Italian food scene, is the genuine flavour of tradition. Nonna Rina makes each product with a selection of the finest ingredients, which undergo a painstaking, precise process capable of rediscovering the true flavours of yesterday. Each product in the Nonna Rina line encompasses all the flavour of good, simple, genuine things, aromas that evoke time spent with the family, Sunday lunches and grandmothers in the kitchen: an explosion of emotions to be savoured with each bite.
Gnocchi and Chicche – Nonna Rina’s longest-running products – will be making an inevitable appearance at the fair. Created out of love for the taste, quality and flavour of things made with oldfashioned care, these products are prepared according to the traditional recipe, using only the finest-quality ingredients, which are worked cold to avoid altering their aromas and flavours. At once soft and solid, Gnocchi and Chicche are ready in just two minutes and so are perfect for those who are pressed for time, but do not want to compromise on flavour: they can be enjoyed seasoned simply with melted butter and cheese or served with more complex sauces, which coat the pasta perfectly due to its porous consistency, becoming an integral part of each bite. Gnocchi are available in the classic potato version, whereas Chicche are available in both the traditional version and speciality versions, with squash and spinach.
At the fair, Nonna Rina will also have the opportunity to present its smooth and stuffed fresh egg pasta. This product line stands apart for its authentic, old-fashioned flavour, made possible by the use of 100% Italian ingredients and high-quality flour, mixed exclusively with eggs laid by free-range hens.
Today, as in the past, Nonna Rina’s smooth pasta is made using a slow process in which the dough is bronze-drawn, which enriches the product with the ideal porousness to absorb all types of sauce and seasoning, while also ensuring it is perfectly al dente. The big names in the smooth pasta line are: Bigoli, a format typical of the Veneto region, made with soft wheat flour and durum wheat semolina, characterised by their roughness; Tagliatelle, a classic of the EmiliaRomagna region and symbol of traditional Italian cuisine; Rigatoni, ideal for all seasons; and Tagliolini, which encompass the unmistakable flavour of tradition, perfect for all occasions.
Nonna Rina’s line of fresh egg pasta stands out for the abundance of its filling, wrapped in a thin layer of pasta that makes for shorter cooking times. The big names in this line are: Tortellini with cured ham, perfect on their own or in broth; Girasoli with cheese and pepper, whose pairing of pecorino and a pinch of pepper brings out the full flavour of this recipe, typical of Roman cuisine; and Ravioloni with speck and Nonno Nanni robiola cheese, which contain a combination of delicious, refined flavours that make each meal a unique experience to be shared.
Then there are the family’s youngest members: the delicious girasoli with dried tomato, basil and Nonno Nanni burrata, a fresh, delicate symphony of flavours, and ravioloni with ricotta cheese and spinach, with their creamy filling.
Nonna Rina is thus ready to share and spread all the genuine flavour of tradition through its rich variety of products, bringing the excellence of Italian cuisine to the German event for the first time.
