Born out of an artisan brass foundry in 1873, Handtmann today is a worldwide operating technology company with 4,300 employees, of which 2,700 work at the company headquarters in Biberach an der Riss. The company, which has been managed by the Handtmann founding family for 150 years, is decentrally organised in six divisions with autonomous management structures: Light Metal Casting, Process Technology, Systems Engineering, Filling and Portioning Systems, e-solutions and Plastics Engineering. In addition to the facilities at the company headquarters in Biberach, Handtmann produces at nine locations in Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia and China. The group of companies is currently made up of 56 companies, 24 of which abroad. The Group of Company’s internationalisation enables local presence and proximity to customers in all important markets throughout the world. At the head of the Group is a holding company with an Advisory Board, which acts as the management, financing and holding company. In 2022, Handtmann generated record sales of 1.1 billion euros.
The Filling & Portioning division (F&P) bears witness to the group of companies’ dynamic development. Established in 1954 as the Maschinenfabrik, the division today constitutes a worldwide leading manufacturer of process technology for food processing and offers integrative line solutions from product preparation all the way through to the packaging solution. Today, the modular systems for grinding, mixing, portioning, linking, separating, dosing, forming, co-extrusion and product handling are put to use in the production of classic sausage and meat products as well as alternative proteins, baked goods and confectionery, fish, delicatessen, dough, dairy or cheese products and pet food. The division is represented in over 100 countries around the world with numerous subsidiaries and sales and service partners, and also operates a comprehensive network of strategic partnerships. With around 1,400 employees and production sites at the company headquarters in Biberach as well as in Zittau and Reutlingen (Germany), in Amersfoort (Netherlands) and Hluk (Czech Republic), the division achieved sales revenues of around 340 million euros in 2022.
