In the report published by the Kiel Institute of World Economy (IFW), headquartered in Germany; it noted that despite the situations in container shipping, global trade increased month-on-month in January 2022 and exceeded the pre-pandemic level (adjusted for price and seasonality).
In the report published with the Kiel Trade Indicator calculated by IFW, it was stated that global trade increased by 2.4% in January 2022 compared to the previous month, and western countries, especially the USA, played an important role in this increase.
In addition, the report stated that global trade is currently 7% above (in price and seasonally adjusted) August 2018, the highest level in the pre-pandemic period.
