The government and the Pilipino Banana Growers and Exporters Association (PBGEA) will spend over USD 87,000 for a marketing campaign that aims to promote Philippine bananas in Japan. PBGEA Executive Director Stephen A. Antig mentioned that this promotion would enable Philippine producers to gain the support of the Japanese market in adjusting the prices for bananas.
In addition, the Pilipino Banana Growers and Exporters Association, Inc. (PBGEA) also joined calls for the Philippine Senate’s immediate concurrence of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement. This movement will alleviate trade costs and open the opportunity for the Philippines to be a part of the world’s most important regional economic bloc.
Lastly, according to a recent article from the business mirror, rising oil prices are putting pressure on the cost of fuel and inputs. Since the Philippines is an oil-importing country, rising oil prices will burden producers who use small to medium vehicles to enter narrow roads leading to farms.
