This year, the German-Kenyan company LIMBUA is a guest at ISM, the world’s largest trade fair for sweets and snacks, where it will present itself and its organic product range.
LIMBUA started in 2006 with a few smallholders and is now the innovative interface between more than 6,000 smallholders in Africa and quality customers around the world. A concept that guarantees a win-win situation for both sides: best quality and conditions for the customers and secure earnings prospects for the organic smallholders as well as over 700 employees in Kenya – most of them women.
With the increasing demand for organic food, the number of participating smallholders could be further increased and thus LIMBUA’s delivery capacities could also be enlarged. Subsequently, the product portfolio was also expanded. In addition to the macadamia nuts, oil, puree and flour, the range now also includes roasted macadamia nuts with salt, BBQ, chili and honey flavors.
LIMBUA also offers high quality and certified organic avocado oil from its own cultivation. The avocado trees grow on the same organic mixed farms where the macadamia trees thrive, so the harvested produce is optimally utilized. Also, the unique subtropical climate, volcanic fertile soils and a rainfall of over 1,000 mm per year at the foot of Mount Kenya allows for sustainable production of the oil and additionally improves the income of the smallholder farmers.
“Our intention for ISM 2022 is to introduce LIMBUA and our product range to many interested parties and to inspire even more people with our unique concept and exceptional product quality,” says founder Matti Spiecker.
