FRUVE Natural Foods Sales Marketing Manager Yasin Mavuk details their strategies addressing to Russian market and their activities directed to increase their presence in the CIS countries.
What are your products demanded most in the CIS countries notably in Russia and Ukraine, and what are main the features of those products?
Our fine-foods category, meaning IQF Semi Dried vegetables and fruits, as well as Sun Dried Tomatoes have been selling quite well in Russia, Ukraine, and CIS countries. Namely:
1) Semi Dried IQF Tomatoes, Cherry Tomatoes, Green Figs, Black Figs and Strawberries
2) Sun-Dried Tomatoes
These products can be described as follows:
- Semi Dried IQF products are dried in our own industrial ovens. 100% natural, single ingredient, vegan and gluten-free, also there is no added sugar, no fat, no preservatives, no chemicals or additives.
- Sun-Dried tomatoes are naturally field dried under the summer sun. 100% natural, vegan and gluten-free, also there is no added sugar and no fat. Unlike Semi Dried, Sun-Dried has two ingredients (tomato and salt), and salt is a traditional preservative that was always in use before the invention of refrigeration technology.

There is a tomato quota issue imposed by Russia for imports from Turkey. How does this affect your tomato exports to this country?
Tomato is a well-known traditional Mediterranean taste and was always grown with expertise in Turkey. And processed tomatoes are no exception, some of the tastiest Sun-Dried and IQF Semi Dried Tomatoes are processed in Turkey, then exported world over. Indeed, there are many Italian and Greek companies that simply repack Turkish tomatoes.
We thank our Russian customers for their business over the many years, during the politically turbulent times as well as the serene. Maintaining and deepening our business ties even under such difficulties tidings show us the bright future of our two countries.
A Simplified Customs Line was established between Turkey and Russia and thanks to this green corridor the customs clearances can be realized fast because the necessary export documents can be transmitted electronically. It is believed that these developments contribute to the trade between two countries. Will this help you too?
We think this customs agreement is a great step forward and will undoubtedly increase the trade volume between the two nations. This will bear yet unforeseen opportunities and ultimately create wealth.

According to the report published by Ministry of Trade pertaining to the food industry in Russia, there has been a considerable increase in the e-commerce in penetrating into the Russian market during the Covid-19 pandemic period. When taking the effects of the pandemic to the healthy products and rising of e-commerce into consideration, do you have any plans to realize in the near future in your export strategies?
We have recently introduced our Healthy Snacks product line in Turkey for B2C e-commerce marketplaces, such as Trendyol, Hepsiburada, N11, Çiçeksepeti, etc. Our snacks are:
