Halal Accreditation Agency comes to the forefront as the only institution offering halal accreditation services in Turkey in order to operate inside and outside of Turkey in the field of halal accreditation, to represent our country in the halal accreditation works in the international arena and to assume the leadership of the works carried out.
“Sensitivity about Halal production and consumption decreased in Islamic geography”
Having made evaluations after signing the agreement, MUSIAD President Abdurrahman Kaan drew attention to the importance of halal production and consumption. Emphasizing that they approach to halal consumption sensitively as MUSIAD, Kaan said, “Unfortunately, we have lost our sensitivity about halal consumption in Islamic geography. The level of awareness among Muslims is unfortunately quite low regarding halal production and consumption. As MUSIAD, we continue our operations with the principle of member-country-ummah in order to increase awareness on this issue. We also signed a cooperation agreement with the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) in this regard in the recent months. Today, we are planning to move on to the next stage with the agreement we signed with the Halal Accreditation Agency. We aim to increase awareness on halal accreditation through organizations such as seminars, conferences, training programs which we will held with HAA jointly. We will continue our activities on the accreditation of our members operating there, with the operations we will carry out over our domestic and international branches.”
“The epidemic helped us to comprehend the understanding of living in the halal world”
Having made evaluations about the coronavirus epidemic as well, which was first seen in China and affected the whole world in a short time, Kaan said, “Unfortunately, there are serious claims that the outbreak in China is transmitted from wild animals. At this point, unfortunately we are a country that feels both economic and sociological effects of the epidemic considerably in Turkey. In this case, we comprehend the importance of the understanding eating, drinking, cleaning and living in the halal apartment as required by Islam. In this context, our agreement with the Halal Accreditation Agency becomes important once again.
“Our Agreement with MUSIAD will be a global step”
HAA Chairman Zafer Soylu emphasized the need for audit in the Halal sector. Soylu said, “Creating standards in today’s world is as important as producing the product itself. The prerequisite for creating standards is to be a developed country in the field of quality infrastructure. Our country is an economy with a developed quality infrastructure that is open to the world through the customs union it has established with the European Union. Just because of this reason Turkey has become the first country that makes accreditation in accordance with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation / SMIIC standards in the Muslim world. In this respect, we attach importance to this cooperation protocol with MUSIAD, and we are of opinion that it is an important step towards the goal of establishing a reliable audit / accreditation mechanism in the field of halal certification at the global level.”
