The closure of Russian fruit and vegetable market in Pokrovsky did not scare exporters.
Salih Cali, President of Uludag Exporters of Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association (UYMSIB), says, “We do not export our products to Russia only. There are so many countries around the world to deal with.”
Fruit and vegetable exporters were not panicked about the closing vegetable and fruit exchange in Russia. By pointing out the supporting efforts of the Ministry of Economy is responsible for foreign trade and foreign trade bureaucracy the solution of the problem,Uludag Exporters of Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association (UYMSIB) President Dr. Salih Cali, drew attention to the importance of the diversity of new markets.
Turkish fruit and vegetable sector has long changed its face towards the countries of the European Union and the Middle East due to political and economic instability in the United States, Japan , China and other countries. Salih Cali said:
“An important part of our exports goes to EU countries. It is not a healthy situation. We strive hard to diversify our markets. We expect that new markets will be open for us, especially after the agreement signed between China and Turkey, the Memorandum of Understanding on Food Safety. Russian market is important to us. We want to increase our share in this market. However, we should remember that, our products are not only exported to Russia. There are a lot of countries around the world to visit. We have a global vision. For us, the globe is a huge market for our products.”
“This year we are working hard to reach alternative markets as UYMSİB,”SalihCalisaid and added, “We have initiated activities for the markets in Far East, Japan, South Korea and the Republic of China in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy.and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock. As union of exporters we are working hard to get a permit to exportBursa Black fig to the United States, cherry and lemon to Japan.”
